ARCHITECTURE DESIGN 1
The first assignment in this module delved into the exploration of Architectural Design Elements & Principles through the lens of Geometry and Form, constituting 10% of the overall assessment. Additionally, a dedicated workshop on drawing orthographic representations complemented this project. This dual focus on theoretical understanding and practical skills aimed to provide a comprehensive foundation for approaching architectural design. As we delved into the intricacies of geometry and form, the assignment fostered a nuanced appreciation for the essential elements and principles that underpin architectural excellence. The parallel workshop on orthographic drawings further enriched our skill set, ensuring a holistic learning experience within the realm of architectural design.
01
WORKSHOP
In our orthographic drawing workshop, we were tasked with drawing the elevations of capsicums, having brought 3-4 each. The process involved cutting the capsicums to match a specific elevation, followed by drawing the detailed orthographic views. The activity concluded with creating an exploded axonometry of the capsicum. This hands-on exercise aimed to bridge theory and practice, enhancing our skills in spatial representation within architectural design.
02
GEOMETRY & FORM
n the geometry and form assignment, we were tasked with selecting a design principle and creating three mock-up models, each incorporating three design elements: lines, points, and volumes/forms or planes. The final segment involved combining our chosen ordering principle with two or three primary elements into a conclusive model. Following this, we translated our design into four distinctive tattoo stamps. This hands-on activity aimed to deepen our understanding of design principles and elements while fostering practical application skills in translating complex concepts into visually impactful forms.
